
High winds of over 70 MPH and dangerous conditions forced the closure of bay area bridges and transit services. In addition to the high winds, as much as 8 inches of rain have fallen in the past 24 hours in some parts of the Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service. On Friday, January 4th at 11:40am, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge remains closed in both directions due to high winds. The Golden Gate Bridge is now closed to truck traffic, and has buffer lanes in both directions. Motorists are advised to expect severe delays and to use alternate routes and bridges. There is no estimated time to reopen the roadways.
