To all of you gearing up for Christmas stockings full of presents, get ready: NORAD will once again track Santa live on Christmas Eve as he makes his journey around the world. Just don’t be confused if you are one of the people that ends up on Norad.com. Although the site has a similar name to the famous Santa Tracker, the official NORAD Santa Tracker site is NORADSanta.org.
History of the Santa Tracker from NORADSanta.org:
For more than 50 years, NORAD and its predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) have tracked Santa. The tradition began on Christmas Eve in 1955 after a Colorado Springs-based Sears Roebuck & Co. store advertisement for children to call Santa on a special “hotline” included an inadvertently misprinted telephone number. Instead of Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations “hotline.” The Director of Operations, Colonel Harry Shoup had his staff check radar data for any indication of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Indeed there were signs of Santa and children who called were given an update on Santa’s location. Thus, the tradition was born.
Roger Clemens met the challenge presented by Curt Schilling on 38pitches.com by posting a YouTube video response to the Mitchell Report. In the video, Clemens denies using steroids and HGH or any performance enhancing drugs.
“Let me be clear: The answer is no, I did not use steroids, human growth hormone, and I’ve never done so,” Clemens said. “I did not provide Brian McNamee with any drugs to inject into my body. Brian McNamee did not inject steroids or human growth hormones into my body either, when I played in Toronto for the Blue Jays or the New York Yankees. This report is simply not true.”
Let’s hope that Clemens is telling the truth. Major League Baseball has taken enough hits from the steroid scandal without having one of the best pitchers in history involved.
